Instagram API posting limits

What Meta's Instagram Content Publishing API allows and doesn't, per Meta's documentation, and why some operators post from real devices instead.

Rate limit

Meta's Content Publishing documentation describes a limit of 100 API-published posts per Instagram account in a 24-hour period.

Missing features

Per Meta's docs, some in-app features such as filters and certain story stickers are not supported through the API, and music is limited to tracks authorized for third-party use.

Reach

Instagram's head Adam Mosseri said in March 2026 that scheduling through third-party tools does not reduce reach. The API limits are about features and caps, not a reach penalty.

Why post in the app

Posting inside the real app gives access to everything the app offers. That is what ReelFleet's real iPhones do.

Questions

Do scheduled posts get less reach?

Instagram says no. The trade-offs are feature support and limits.

Where are the limits documented?

In Meta's Instagram Platform docs, Content Publishing section.
